Challenge: A refinery needed a way to seal a sampling probe inserted into a live process and allow safe change under pressure.
Solution: Conax designed a redundant seal assembly that provides a secondary seal to capture any gas or liquid that escapes the first seal. The optional annular port collects gas blowby.
This assembly can be used to seal any probe or instrument inserted into a gas or liquid process. The fitting is supplied with a primary seal and secondary seal. Assemblies can be configured with different mounting thread sizes and/or bore sizes. Blow-out collars and/or safety chains can be provided if the application requires. The assembly shown features a 1″ female NPT thread to seal on a 3/8″ pipe.
Impact: The ability to insert the probe into a sealed process saved the customer considerable downtime.
